POLLOCK PINES — November 2, 2026. El Dorado Irrigation District’s recreation FAQ warns that domestic animals may not enter water at Sly Park Recreation Area or Forebay Reservoir because both are part of its drinking-water supply infrastructure.

Leashes and shoreline rules

The district says dogs must be leashed at all times at its recreational facilities. It explains that owners of annual recreation passes are not charged a separate pet day-use fee, while other visitors may face a pet fee.

Why the water restriction is strict

EID cites its state drinking-water agreement. An animal being permitted on a trail or in a campground does not grant permission to let it swim or drink directly from a reservoir.

Two sites have different uses

Sly Park Recreation Area is open year-round for camping and day use, while Forebay Reservoir is day-use only. Check each site’s posted access hours and seasonal restrictions before making plans.
